PZU’s statement regarding the situation in Ukraine

In the face of the attack by the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the declaration of martial law by Ukraine, the Ukrainian companies of the PZU Group implemented appropriate procedures prepared for such a situation.

Since the end of January this year, a crisis management team has been operating continuously in the Polish PZU headquarters, monitoring the situation and making decisions on preventive measures. Our absolute priority in the current situation is the life and health of our employees. All Poles employed by PZU Group companies in Ukraine are already in Poland and work remotely, and Ukrainian employees of PZU Group companies should follow the instructions of Ukrainian authorities.

PZU Group's subsidiaries in Ukraine employ nearly 700 people and have 103 branches. PZU has been operating in Ukraine since 2005 through the PZU Ukraine Group, which consists, among others, of PZU Ukraine non-life insurance company (ПЗУ Україна) and PZU Ukraine life insurance company (ПЗУ Україна страхування життя). The former ranks 6th in the Ukrainian non-life insurance market with a share of 3.5%, and the latter ranks 3rd in the life insurance market with a share of 11.1%. After three quarters of 2021, the insurance premiums collected in Ukraine represented just over 1.3% of the PZU Group's total premiums written, and Ukrainian assets accounted for 0.17% of the Group's total assets.

Since the beginning of its presence in Ukraine PZU has continuously identified and monitored various risks related to that market. This included the threat of armed conflict, particularly since 2014, i.e. Russia's annexation of Crimea and the war in Donbas. At that time, we were forced to close or temporarily suspend the operations of some branches that were located in areas permanently or temporarily occupied by Russians or separatists supported by them. Since then, we have been ready for different scenarios with appropriate crisis plans in place.

The PZU Group, its management board and employees, show solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and will continue their assistance efforts both in Poland and in Ukraine as the situation develops.
